Consulting Services

We deliver licensed architectural expertise, design technology, program management, and prefabricated systems to organizations executing complex physical infrastructure. The practice runs along several distinct lines – each sized to the question at hand and shaped around the client’s own structure.

We work alongside developers, technology companies, peer architecture practices, contractors, and institutional owners – bringing credentialed depth and technical rigor to teams already in motion.

Who We Serve

We work with technology companies operating retail, fulfillment, or data-center portfolios; housing developers; mature general contractors; institutional owners; AEC software vendors; and peer architecture practices needing licensed coverage in Nevada, Utah, or Washington. Every engagement begins with a clear scope of where Bristlecone fits within the larger team.

Our Partners

We are grateful to collaborate with teams who share our care and passion for innovation. From artistic luxury homes to complex infrastructure, we are fortunate to engage with architecture firms, developers, and technology companies.

Experience

Bristlecone’s consulting practice draws on architectural and design program leadership inside Amazon – first at Physical Stores, then at fulfillment-side Global Realty – alongside more than a decade of professional practice. Matthew Grunert, NCARB, is a Registered Architect in Nevada, Utah, and Washington. That blend of operator-side and design-side experience is what corporate clients value: a partner who understands building inside program structure, not only architectural intent.

What We Do

Most engagements draw on more than one of the lines below. Each is a distinct service with its own delivery shape, but the standard of care, documentation discipline, and design-technology environment are shared across all of them.

Architect of Record

Stamped drawings, code & entitlement strategy, and licensed coverage across Nevada, Utah & Washington.

BIM & Design Technology

Revit standards, content libraries, custom Revit add-in development, and VDC enablement – the model-first rigor behind every drawing set.

Program & Product Management

Technical program leadership and product management inside the architect–builder–consultant chain.

Prefab & Building Systems

Prefabricated and kit-of-parts building systems – strategy, development, and design-for-manufacturing.

Architect of Record & Licensed Services

Licensed architectural services in Nevada, Utah, and Washington (NCARB). Architect-of-record arrangements for firms operating outside their licensure footprint, stamped drawings, design review documentation, jurisdictional approvals, and code and entitlement strategy. The work carries Bristlecone’s own standard of care into the engagement, not a signing convenience at the end of someone else’s.

BIM Production

Drawing production, modeling, and coordination delivered by a dedicated team working under Bristlecone’s standards. Built for architecture firms and developers who need reliable Revit capacity without the friction of building it in-house: construction document sets, scan-to-BIM, clash detection, renderings, and ongoing documentation support across the life of a project.

Production work lives inside your projects, under your brand. We hold the standard; you hold the client relationship. Engagements are sized to your workload and scaled as the project breathes.

BIM Consulting & Enablement

Higher-touch work for teams who want to own their BIM environment, not outsource it. Revit standards, content libraries, automation that earns its keep, data and design-standards management, and training for in-house teams – often paired with Production while a client’s internal capability is being built.

Custom Revit Add-in Development

Where off-the-shelf tooling ends, we build our own. Bristlecone designs and develops custom Revit add-ins – plugins built directly on the Revit API – from single purpose-built commands to full toolbars that put a team’s way of working one click away. The same tooling that sharpens our own drawing sets is available to yours: scoped to your workflows, aligned to your standards, and supported well after delivery.

Program Management & Owner’s Representation

Technical program management for organizations executing portfolios of physical infrastructure – retail, fulfillment, data-center, multifamily, and mixed-use programs. Owner’s representation for corporate and institutional owners whose teams need a credentialed advocate inside the architect-builder-consultant chain. The line also includes product management for AEC software, prefab systems, and the design tooling that connects program logic to execution.

Prefabricated Systems & Kit-of-Parts

Strategy and development of prefabricated building systems for housing developers, contractors, and software vendors: modular and panelized design, design-for-manufacturing, kit-of-parts logic, and the supply-chain and trade coordination prefab actually requires. We bring architectural rigor to systems that are usually engineered from one side or the other but rarely both.

Design Technology

Our consulting work runs on the same Revit-based BIM environment that drives our custom-home practice – disciplined standards, purposeful automation, and clear data structures, established within your own environment so your team keeps its momentum long after we step away.

Leadership on the Land

Every engagement is led in person – on the land and in the room, with the drawings in hand, carrying design intent from first concept through finished work.

The Standard of Care

Whether the engagement is a single stamped permit set, a Revit standards overhaul, or years-long program coverage, the work carries the same standard of care that defines the rest of Bristlecone’s practice: clear documentation, predictable delivery, and the long view.

How We Engage

Engagements take the shape the project requires. Fixed-fee consulting for discrete questions. Embedded program management for ongoing work. Architect-of-record arrangements for licensed coverage. Hours-based capacity for BIM production. Standing retainers for portfolio support. Each engagement is grounded in a written scope, predictable deliverables, and the same care we bring to our own custom-home practice.

Our Engagement at a Glance

  1. Scope & Fit – Clarify the question, confirm Bristlecone is the right partner for the work, and agree on commercial terms.
  2. Structure & Standards – Establish documentation, data, and decision standards; align with the client’s existing tools and team.
  3. Execution – Deliver the work agreed in scope – licensed drawings, BIM build-out, program structure, prefab development, or owner’s representation.
